I am currently reading the book of Numbers. Today morning I read 1-5 and in chapter 5 something struck me like a weapon. This is called the Law of Jealousy applied to an Israelite woman when she cheated on her husband or if her husband suspected her of cheating. 

You gotta read this because whaaaat!!!

Numbers 5

The Law of Jealousy Concerning Unfaithful Wives

11. Then the LORD said to Moses,

12. “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘If a man’s wife goes astray and is unfaithful to him

13. so that another man has sexual relations with her, and this is hidden from her husband and her impurity is undetected (since there is no witness against her and she has not been caught in the act),

14. and if feelings of jealousy come over her husband and he suspects his wife and she is impure or if he is jealous and suspects her even though she is not impure

15. then he is to take his wife to the priest. He must also take an offering of a tenth of an ephah of barley flour on her behalf. He must not pour olive oil on it or put incense on it, because it is a grain offering for jealousy, a reminder-offering to draw attention to wrongdoing.

16. “‘The priest shall bring her and have her stand before the LORD.

17. Then he shall take some holy water in a clay jar and put some dust from the tabernacle floor into the water.

18. After the priest has had the woman stand before the LORD, he shall loosen her hair and place in her hands the reminder-offering, the grain offering for jealousy, while he himself holds the bitter water that brings a curse.

19. Then the priest shall put the woman under oath and say to her, “If no other man has had sexual relations with you and you have not gone astray and become impure while married to your husband, may this bitter water that brings a curse not harm you.

20. But if you have gone astray while married to your husband and you have made yourself impure by having sexual relations with a man other than your husband”

21. here the priest is to put the woman under this curse”may the LORD cause you to become a curse among your people when he makes your womb miscarry and your abdomen swell.

22. May this water that brings a curse enter your body so that your abdomen swells or your womb miscarries.” “‘Then the woman is to say, “Amen. So be it.”

23. “‘The priest is to write these curses on a scroll and then wash them off into the bitter water.

24. He shall make the woman drink the bitter water that brings a curse, and this water that brings a curse and causes bitter suffering will enter her.

25. The priest is to take from her hands the grain offering for jealousy, wave it before the LORD and bring it to the altar.

26. The priest is then to take a handful of the grain offering as a memorial offering and burn it on the altar; after that, he is to have the woman drink the water.

27. If she has made herself impure and been unfaithful to her husband, this will be the result: When she is made to drink the water that brings a curse and causes bitter suffering, it will enter her, her abdomen will swell and her womb will miscarry, and she will become a curse.

28. If, however, the woman has not made herself impure, but is clean, she will be cleared of guilt and will be able to have children.

29. “‘This, then, is the law of jealousy when a woman goes astray and makes herself impure while married to her husband,

30. or when feelings of jealousy come over a man because he suspects his wife. The priest is to have her stand before the LORD and is to apply this entire law to her.

31. The husband will be innocent of any wrongdoing, but the woman will bear the consequences of her sin.'”

You know what? I need to know what was done to a man who cheats or cheating those days was only applicable to women? 

Jeeeeez!! Thank you GOD for the new covenant! Halleluja!

Yesterday I went through Instagram Stories of a lady on Instagram. I have followed this lady for years. She was married to this guy who is also on Instagram and their marriage was full of fun. They have a YouTube Channel as a couple and their videos have made me happy for years and I felt they seemed real not like the other couples on YouTube who seem fake and forced.

On her Instagram stories yesterday, she treated us to a rude shock that they had actually been struggling in their marriage for some time, and they had even separated, and the guy left their family house and took a house across the streets. That was new. Also, she narrated how she had seen through the window how her ex-husband had sneaked a lady she actually knows in the middle of the night into his house while she was up baking cakes for her 3 baby boys all of whom she had with this guy in their family house. 

So, while watching through the window she saw this and couldn’t take it, she went to confront her Ex-husband, and he beat her up. A moment of silence for that because Ew! That’s gross. What a childish way to handle conflict I must say.

She went on to express her regrets on how she had wasted her beauty, her youth and her time, sacrificing a lot for this guy and that is how he was now treating her. Also, she said how this guy had made a statement when she had gone to confront him and said, ‘He owed her nothing’ that statement seemed to have really hurt her badly from the way she spoke again and again about it. And as though that wasn’t enough the guy was smart; he went to the police that night and reported her for disturbing his peace in his house at night. 

And you know what, the lady expressed how she still loved the guy and going to his house to confront him showed that she actually still CARES. Even after all that struggle, pain, embarrassment and drama SHE STILL CARES. 

And I was reminded of a book I read recently titled, ‘awakening the giant within’ and in one of the chapters the writer talked about everybody having a different threshold of pain. That’s why men and women can put up with a lot of pain not only in marriage only but also in other toxic spaces e.g. toxic job, toxic family, toxic friends etc. 

And at times the people watching from a far can ask the question, ‘why stay, why can’t you just walk away?’ and the response always is, ‘its not that easy’. Which is a wrong response if you ask me because the right answer is, ‘give me time to take up more pain, more embarrassment, more disrespect, more abuse, more rejection, more disappointments until I reach my optimum pain threshold’. Because usually they one day wake up and leave on their own after other people trying to save them from themselves for many years. At that time, when they walk away what has changed? Where did the strength to leave come from? The strength came from reaching the highest level of pain they can withstand you know!

In-fact after I saw that post I had a conversation with my best friend on what her perspective on marriage is after all the madness that we see in the world today, and we went round and round until we reached a joint conclusion that Marriage was and still is God’s agenda. 

God was the manufacturer of marriage the only problem is, let’s say if marriage was a bed and it breaks, then what human beings do today is they take advice from a phone manufacturer for example on how to use the bed right and how to repair the bed when it breaks instead of involving the carpenter Himself from the word go before buying the bed and still going forward they only go to a carpenter for repairs instead of involving the person who manufactures and repairs  phones on matters bed Jeeeeez. Anyway, today I wasn’t writing about how to make a marriage work, I am writing about optimum pain threshold for every human being. Also Pleaseeee check threshold of pain, because some have died before reaching their optimum. Remember the greatest purpose of life is TO LIVE IT. Make sure you do whatever it takes TO LIVE LIFE.

Early this month I attended a virtual training on Retirement-Preparedness. The speaker emphasized the importance of having a personal working routine now that you can continue with even after retirement to keep you grounded. She also said in the meantime we should check our diet, our sleeping time, and our workout routine in order to age gracefully. 

After she was done, we had a Q & A session and a guy asked a question. His question was, ‘how can men deal with this issue of women ganging up with children against them and leaving them lonely after retirement’. I loved how the speaker answered this question 

She said, the life you want to live after retirement start living it now. Start saving and investing now so that at retirement you have means of survival. Start exercising and eating clean now so that after retirement you enjoy a healthy strong body and also make sure you treat your spouse and children well now so that after retirement you enjoy having them around. 

But if you prioritize your workmates or friends right now and say that taking care of children is the duty of a woman, don’t be surprised when the children bond with their mother more strong and they avoid you.

If you feel children  are an annoyance right now and always shout at them and spank them and never create time to bond with them now, Don’t be surprised when your children send money to your wife while you stay broke.

If what you feel now is that a woman should remain in the kitchen and there’s nothing a woman can tell you. Or that you have a right to marry as many women as you want and to date whoever you want and your wife should understand. Or if you feel a woman must be punished and you keep laying your hands on your woman, don’t be surprised when after retirement your wife goes abroad to stay with your children and you remain all by yourself. or she divorces you after retirement and your children build her a home that is better than yours and that’s where they spend all their holidays. 

The life you live today will determine whether you enjoy your retirement or die sooner after. 

The Choice is yours!

A month ago I received a revelation in my spirit on what a church is. I know people say the church is me and you or that the church is your heart and I don’t dispute that. The church I am talking about today is that building or tent you go to every Saturday or Sunday.

So the revelation came after many years of struggling within my spirit on whether to go to church on Sunday or not. This is because at times I could go to church and the preacher’s sermon isn’t perfectly prepared or I don’t enjoy the praise and worship or the drama of the members of church. These things made me feel like the church wasn’t having the impact that I thought it needed to have in me. Because to me the most important thing on Sunday when I go to church  was the sermon and if the sermon wasn’t well articulated or researched I went home disappointed and felt like I had wasted my time. I would have rather spent the day resting in bed. 

This struggle went on for a while until I received this revelation on what a church is or what God intended a church to be from the beginning and I have never been the same again. 

The revelation is that a church is a tent of meeting or a location where God HIMSELF descends to meet with the people present. He doesn’t send Angels, He descends HIMSELF. And it’s good I mention that usually when I receive a revelation in my spirit I search the Bible to find a confirmation. So a week after receiving that revelation God put it in my spirit to start reading the Bible afresh word to word from Genesis and my answer came from the book of Exodus when God gave Moses instructions on how to build A church or an altar or a tent of meeting from where the Israelites would worship Him 

God also instructed Moses to appoint Aaron and His sons as the first Priests to preside over the activities of the church. At the end of Exodus when Moses had finished building the church the Bible says in Exodus 40:34-35:-

34. Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.

35. Moses could not enter the tent of meeting because the cloud had settled on it, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.

Praise the Lord! How beautiful! 

This was the confirmation I needed to rubber stamp this revelation.

Since then I have never stayed at home on a Sunday and I have never had to struggle on whether to go to church on Sunday or not. 

My focus has shifted from the things I used to focus on nowadays I go to church to meet with GOD. I have come to learn that the preachings, the worship and praise, the testimonies, the confessions and repentances etc are just to prepare my heart so that I may make my ways right with God while in the church so that I don’t miss my hour of visitation. So that when God visits  the people in the gathering He may not pass me.

Other people say, ‘you know what, I can worship God in my house, God is everywhere He cannot be confined in a church only’ and that is okay. However, I want to bring to your attention that The overwhelming presence of God that descends in a church is too Heavy for you to call alone in your bed or house. Also God cannot commune with a sinner, at times you may think you are in right standing with God but only God knows, you may not be in good books after-all and we know that God cannot dwell in unholy places. 

That’s why you need to be in a gathering where there are people of different spiritual levels. Some who have learnt to stay righteous most if not all of the time, those we call prayer warriors, those who call God and in no minute He has arrived. That’s why the Bible says Where two or three are gathered in HIS name There He is. That 2 or 3 emphasizes the importance of a crowd, or numbers or quorum. 

I no-longer care much about how powerful or deep the sermon is, or how talented the worshiper is or how modern the music instruments are I CARE ABOUT GODS PRESENCE. And how do I know that I was in the presence of God? PEACE. The presence of God gives uncommon peace that the things of this world cannot give! 

And what about those who cannot go to church because they are sick or disabled and have no caregivers? align yourself with those who do so that they mention you while they are in God’s presence.

If you didn’t go to meet with God today make sure next Sunday you don’t miss to experience the overwhelming presence of God in church and if you don’t experience that in your church, don’t stay at home, keep looking until you find one because even now God still comes to dwell in the presence of His people.
