He gave up His Son….

How could God be any more generous to us? He sent His only son to earth to die for us so that we could reside with Him in heaven for eternity. He created us in His image and if we ask anything of Him, He shall always listen. If He was willing to give His only son as a sacrifice, what do you think He would refuse to give us? Nothing.

You have given me everything, generous and loving Lord, and I can only give You that which You already have. I vow to give You all of my life’s energy, blessed Father, and love You with all of my heart and strength. I ask forgiveness for the many moments of selfishness in my life, where I thought not of You but thought only of myself. You have never done this to me, but I have done it to You. As Your humble child, I repent at Your feet. I am kneeling, Lord. Please lift me up. Amen.

As Christians, we have been called to touch the lives of everyone around us. Think of salt. What does it do? It adds flavor and value to the food in which it’s placed. We have been placed in this world to make an impact for God, not to be ineffective like salt that loses its tastiness. Make sure that in every situation you are placed, you are adding value that will glorify God’s name.

Dear God, I ask that you help me be a person who adds value in any situation that I am found in. May I never strive to be ineffective. May my actions always point to you, Lord. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Ezekiel 37:1-14

Dear Gentle Reader, I am writing this after coming out of some rough patch in my life. Friends, have you ever had an experience of a seemingly dead end in a particular matter? Till you are left without breath. Without help. Without hope. Dead end. Dead till there is decay and what’s left is a pile of dry bones, giving distant evidence of past life!

I know I am not alone in this and Some of us if not many have stories of dead ends in this race of life. We sometimes get stuck in this race. We hit brick walls many times. We exhaust options. We deplete hope and drain help. We are left for dead.

Some of us know the dead ends of financial difficulties, incurable diseases, depression, sexual abuse, lonely loveless relationships, unemployment, grieving the loss of a loved one, broken marriages or family conflicts that won’t budge. The list can be endless!

Ezekiel’s vision of the valley of dry bones is a metaphor for the renewal of the people of Israel. They were at a dead end. They were exiles in Babylonian captivity. Their land was ravaged, their temple destroyed, and their families scattered. They were refugees in a strange land.

They regarded this political and military defeat as an irrevocable historical judgment. Marduk, the idol god of the Babylonians, had seemingly prevailed. Yahweh had proven impotent, their faith had proven inadequate, and the covenant promises had proven insufficient. The formation of a strong kingdom of Israel with a king had backfired .

So, stuck in Babylon some sat by the river and sang old songs, while others scoffed. They were like a field of bones: dry, dusty, sun bleached, and dead still.

Then God called Ezekiel to go stand in the middle of the cemetery. Climb up on a tombstone, with neck bones and thigh bones and wish bones as far as he could see, and proclaim:

“Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life. I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.”

Don’t be fooled by dead ends. Don’t trust your eyes or ears that it is over. It is not over yet. Hope in God. For when you’re without power, when you’re weak, when you’ve run out of options, when you’re dead, there is still the breath of God.

Indeed in 50 years time that mighty Babylon came down, the Israelites went back to their own land and rebuilt their cities and temple. Gods glory descended back on the nation.

God continues to breathe new life into dead ends and dry bones even now. There is still the deep longing that God is at work in creation even today.

So, despite overwhelming evidence we still cling to the hope that the breath of God will blow up with a roar, and rattle old bones, and marriages that are dead in the water will find new winds of love, and stone cold drunks will breathe sober, and those embalmed with greed will be alive with compassion.

Both poverty of spirit and pocket will be flushed with richness, and those dry with depression will be drenched with deep laughter, and this old world will be turned upside, and refugees will dance of justice and mercy and peace, and death won’t have the last word.

I don’t know what is dead in your heart or life. I don’t know where death has a grip in your life.I don’t know how dry and brittle you are now. But, the will of God is that life will come out of death.

Our faith is not an empty optimism or confidence in the power of the human spirit; our faith is in the breath of God, breathing new life even in every dead end of your life.

May the breath of God,The Holy Spirit of God, breath over you right now, giving new life to your body, soul and spirit. Be revived in Jesus name! Let new life flow in your health, finances, relationships, career, businesses, education and ministry in Jesus name!

Have a Blessed week!

Dear Gentle Reader✨
The phrase ‘shadow of death’ in Psalms 23 portrays death as a deep shadow or as deep darkness. This image of death compliments the metaphor of the shepherd because the shepherd at times has to lead his flock to feeding grounds across ravines with sharp cliffs. Apart from the risk of a slippery foot, chances are high that these ravines are inhabited by wild animals like Leopards. Yet the sheep that follow in the path of the shepherd don’t need to worry about cliffs or predators because the shepherd shall fight them off.
The darkness among ravines symbolizes different seasons in David’s life. His victory over Goliath was a turning point for both good and bad. The good was he unconsciously won the hearts of people in Israel. The bad was Saul envied him so badly that he wanted him dead.
Death followed David everywhere. In Keilah, Philistines fled before him. Next, David had to run for his own life. When God guided David to the throne he actually walked him through the valley of the shadow of death, (as a shepherd leads his flock to green pastures over the valley of death) and God’s hand of deliverance was over him even in the valley of death. His presence in David’s life was more powerful than the ever-presented shadow of death.

Friends, Problems are not absent in life. There are certain seasons however where our very existence is threatened. Nevertheless, I want you to keep it at the back of your mind that God’s presence in your life is more powerful than the ever-presented shadow of death.
Thank you for Reading ❤️

Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come ~ Psalms 71:18

Dear Gentle Reader, I pray you are having a fruitful Monday. Allow me to share a mini bible study with you today.

The writer of this Psalm Mr David, desperately wanted God to show His strength through him, as an old man.

He wanted everyone to know God’s power.

The take home lesson today is that as we grow old, we can still show God’s strength.

As we become weaker, we can proclaim how strong He is.

If you are reading this and you are of age do not lose heart as you grow old.

There exist a retired missionary in another continent right now who goes door to door to preach even though he’s walking slowly.

In another part of the continent is another woman who started doing jail ministry long ago and is now decades later faithfully visiting the jail to share the word of God and share a few other basic needs she can share with those in prison.

Whatever God is calling you to, God is greater than your age, Do it.

Don’t use your age as an excuse. The God of the young is still God of the old. Until God takes you away from this world, you have to continue living a life worthy of the calling you received from God.

Pray with me
Lord, as I grow old, let me still serve You faithfully. When I’m weak, help me to show others Your strength. Through wrinkles, let others see the joy on my face that comes only from You. Even if I’m moving slowly, let me still move for You. I will gladly do Your will until my last breath. If I’m on this earth, You have me here for a reason and I want to continue living for You. In Jesus’ name I pray.

Rejoice evermore.Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you ~ 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Dear Gentle Reader, today is Sunday and I just want to honestly ask you, is there any other place in your life that you feel that you really “rejoice” other than at Church?

Do you take time out of your day to explicitly pray to God, or is it constantly happening in the way you talk and act?

Are you grateful for everything or are you sometimes bitter when things don’t go as you hoped?

Think carefully about this passage, because if you implement the changes that these verses command, your entire life view will be positively altered.

Think about it and you will discover that you already know it is true.

Pray with me
All the glory be to God! I wish to have no evil in my thoughts, precious Lord Jesus, and hope that every moment of my life is spent rejoicing in Your name. I know that I am not perfect; no, I am far from it. Forgive me for neglecting the virtues bestowed on me by You, and help me to pray constantly in the subconscious of my mind. If I do this, I know that every moment of everyday will be filled with thanksgiving, as I feel with this prayer. Amen.

Have a blessed Sunday full of rejoicing and thanks giving.
