OLDER IN YEARS, STRONGER IN FAITH.

Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come ~ Psalms 71:18

Dear Gentle Reader, I pray you are having a fruitful Monday. Allow me to share a mini bible study with you today.

The writer of this Psalm Mr David, desperately wanted God to show His strength through him, as an old man.

He wanted everyone to know God’s power.

The take home lesson today is that as we grow old, we can still show God’s strength.

As we become weaker, we can proclaim how strong He is.

If you are reading this and you are of age do not lose heart as you grow old.

There exist a retired missionary in another continent right now who goes door to door to preach even though he’s walking slowly.

In another part of the continent is another woman who started doing jail ministry long ago and is now decades later faithfully visiting the jail to share the word of God and share a few other basic needs she can share with those in prison.

Whatever God is calling you to, God is greater than your age, Do it.

Don’t use your age as an excuse. The God of the young is still God of the old. Until God takes you away from this world, you have to continue living a life worthy of the calling you received from God.

Pray with me
Lord, as I grow old, let me still serve You faithfully. When I’m weak, help me to show others Your strength. Through wrinkles, let others see the joy on my face that comes only from You. Even if I’m moving slowly, let me still move for You. I will gladly do Your will until my last breath. If I’m on this earth, You have me here for a reason and I want to continue living for You. In Jesus’ name I pray.
Amen.

GOD’S WILL FOR YOU

Rejoice evermore.Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you ~ 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Dear Gentle Reader, today is Sunday and I just want to honestly ask you, is there any other place in your life that you feel that you really “rejoice” other than at Church?

Do you take time out of your day to explicitly pray to God, or is it constantly happening in the way you talk and act?

Are you grateful for everything or are you sometimes bitter when things don’t go as you hoped?

Think carefully about this passage, because if you implement the changes that these verses command, your entire life view will be positively altered.

Think about it and you will discover that you already know it is true.

Pray with me
All the glory be to God! I wish to have no evil in my thoughts, precious Lord Jesus, and hope that every moment of my life is spent rejoicing in Your name. I know that I am not perfect; no, I am far from it. Forgive me for neglecting the virtues bestowed on me by You, and help me to pray constantly in the subconscious of my mind. If I do this, I know that every moment of everyday will be filled with thanksgiving, as I feel with this prayer. Amen.

Have a blessed Sunday full of rejoicing and thanks giving.

OLD IS VALUABLE.

Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength faileth. ~ Psalms 71:9

Dear Gentle Reader, the first and second greatest commandments are to love God and love your neighbor as your self.

This verse in Psalms reminds us that it is not Christ-like to forget and neglect the elderly.

If your neighbor is old, and you do not help them when they need help, how is that loving?

When our own kin grow old, how can we love them the way Christ loves the Church?

Do we tell our old folks about Christ?

Do we show the old neighbor the love of Christ?

Growing up my parents were not as present and my grandmothers and grandfather were ever present like God. They introduced me to God, took me to church, fed me on nice foods and showed me unconditional love.

I am reminded of my first time in school, I didn’t want to stay away from my grandmother ~ Dad’s mum Rosa and she went to school with me and stayed together with me till midday when we walked back home together. She did this until I had made friends around school and was able to read, play and sleep together with others without needing her around.

My mum’s mum Christiana was perfect as well. My mum tells me that when she was a new mum, she was always very sleepy and so she would let me breastfeed as she slept😂in the night I would have milk dripping allover me😂inside my ears, inside my eyes allover my face😂and my grandmother always creeped into my mum’s room to rescue me from drowning in milk 😂 may Christina Rest in Perfect Peace 🕊️

Their love has made me very compassionate about the elderly. Oftentimes when I see an old person cross the road, I am driven to hold their hands lol…😆. At work I give priority to all the elderly, it never matters how long the queue is, I always leave my desk and go for the old grandma or old grandpa at the back. Because to me old people are precious and valuable.

However, so many people who didn’t interact with their old folks growing up have no compassion for old people. So many old people stay lonely in their homes and even their children or neighbors don’t care to give them the attention they need. It hurts me.

Today I just wanted to remind y’all that the people who are old are the ones who cared for us when we were young and helpless. It is our duty to care for them when they are old.

Let’s Pray 🙏

Dear Lord Jesus, I pray for the older people who do not know You. I pray they will find Your love and joy. Let them lean on You for strength and understanding. Help them to smile and live out the remainder of their days for You. Get them the word if they don’t have access to it. Bring Christians into their lives to speak life into them. You are the God who cares for the young and old, weak and strong, rich and poor. Bless our elderly and teach us how to care and honor them. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

HOW WILL THIS BE?

Luke 1:34-38

34 “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?”35 The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. 36 Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. 37 For no word from God will ever fail.” 38 “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.

Friends, this is the scripture that narrates the announcement of the birth of Jesus by Angel Gabriel through the virgin Mary. Mary is wondering how it’s going to be possible for her to give birth and yet she is a virgin and has never known a man…and she poses a honest question, HOW WILL THIS BE? The angel gives her three very important responses.

1.       The Holy Spirit Will Come on You, and the Power of The Most High will overshadow you

2.       Even Elizabeth Your Relative Is Going to Have a Child in Her Old Age

3.       No Word from God Will Ever Fail

Friends, I know you may be in a situation right now where you are asking yourself the same question, how will this be? And I want to encourage you with these three messages.

1.       The Holy Spirit will come on You, and the Power of The Most High Will overshadow you, empower you, strengthen you and enable you.

2.       Look around and see how God has come through in the past or even recently for people that you know personally. People who have been in dire situations than yours and believe that just the same way He did to them He can do it for you too.

3.       Be rest assured that God will fulfil His promises concerning you for no word from God will Ever Fail. For the word of God is active and true and God cannot promise what He cannot do.

I hope you feel encouraged by this word.❤️

WILDERNESS EXPERIENCE.

The period of trial comes on the heels of a period of accomplishment or achievement.

Dear friends,
I want to welcome Y’all to this week’s devotion. Let’s talk about the WILDERNESS experience!
®
And..what’s a wilderness experience?
®
A “wilderness experience” is usually thought of as a tough time in which a believer endures discomfort and trials.
®
The pleasant things of life are unable to be enjoyed, or they may be absent altogether, and one feels a lack of encouragement. A “wilderness experience” is often a time of intensified temptation and spiritual attack. It can involve a spiritual, financial, or emotional drought.
®
Having a “wilderness experience” is not necessarily a sign that a believer is sinning; rather, it is a time of God-ordained testing.
®
A “wilderness experience” is often linked to a “mountaintop experience”; that is, the struggle follows a success of some kind.
®
The period of trial comes on the heels of a period of accomplishment or achievement.
®
There are several biblical examples of people enduring a “wilderness experience.”
®
The people of Israel, in leaving Egypt, experienced a miraculous deliverance through the Red Sea. The triumph of finally being free from slavery was their “mountain-top experience.” Yet what followed was a journey through the desert. They were tried in an actual wilderness, and they failed the test. As a result, their “wilderness experience” stretched to forty years.
®
Others who can be said to have had a “wilderness experience” include the prophet Elijah (1 Kings 19:1–9); the apostle Paul (Galatians 1:17–18); and, of course, the patriarch Job.
®
Jesus also had a “wilderness experience.” After Jesus’ baptism, “at once the Spirit sent him out into the wilderness, and he was in the wilderness forty days, being tempted by Satan” (Mark 1:12–13). Jesus’ experience teaches us some important facts:
®
√It is not a sin to be tempted;
√It is God’s will that times of testing come our way—Jesus was “full of the Holy Spirit” when He went into the wilderness (Luke 4:1); and
√We are never without God’s grace—Jesus may have been “WITH THE WILD ANIMALS,” BUT “ANGELS ATTENDED HIM,” too (Mark 1:13).
®
Mark 1:13 reminds me of the book of Psalms 23:5 that says, ”You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.” Because even with Jesus alone in the company of wild animals in the wilderness the bibles still says ~THE ANGELS STILL ATTENDED TO HIM~ How powerful is that?

The reason for these trials, Paul says, is “to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us”

®
Friends, In a “wilderness experience,” a believer may struggle simply to survive from day to day. Financial, material, physical, or emotional burdens may press on him. The flesh cries out for relief. The believer is forced to wait on the Lord, find God’s peace and joy in the midst of trouble, and through it all mature in his walk with Christ.
®
Paul offers this encouragement for those who “have this treasure in jars of clay”: “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body” (2 Corinthians 4:7–10).
®
The reason for these trials, Paul says, is “to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us” (verse 7).
®
The wilderness is an unpleasant place, fleshly speaking. We naturally want prosperity, health, and easy going. But the same God who created the garden also created the wilderness. There will be times of trial and pressure. Our faith will be tested. But the God of grace will meet us even in the wilderness.
®
Friends, even in the wilderness God can refresh us, even there He can renew us.” He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. Create time and read full chapter of Revelation 22:20.
®
I am glad that you checked in and read my devotion blog..Remember to leave your feedback on the comment section below👇..May God bless your week and I want to decree and declare that;
®
√This week no weapon formed against you shall prosper,
√This week God will meet you at your point of need
√This week God will bless your going out and your coming back home
√This week there will be no limit to what God can do in your life. In Jesus name.
®
Love y’all
Yours truly

A TALE OF TWO KINGS!

Scriptures gives us a story of two kings ( David and Saul ) who sat on a throne at different times. David in a fit of passion, committed adultery with his neighbor’s wife, and then plotted to have his neighbor killed. Such a string of ‘serious’ sins by our standards, yet, when the story of his life was told, this King was called a man after God’s own heart.
.
By contrast, King Saul, his predecessor’s sin was relatively ‘insignificant’, he was only guilty of ‘incomplete’ obedience. His sin looked only like  a  ‘procedural assumption’ . But it cost him his kingdom, his life, and his family.
.
What was the difference?
.
In both cases, the individuals had sinned. The difference was not so much in the nature or magnitude of their sin, but in their response when confronted with their sin.
.
When King Saul was confronted with his sin, he defended, justified, and excused himself, blamed others, and tried to cover up both the sin and its consequences. He also made light of the sin.
.
In short, his response revealed a proud, unbroken heart. On the other hand, when King David was faced with his sin, he was willing to acknowledge his failure, to take personal responsibility for his wrongdoing, and to repent of his sin.
.
His response was that of a humble, broken man. And his was the heart that God honored.
.
It is not how ‘big’ or ‘insignificant’ the sin committed looks like, but it is how we respond when confronted with our sins that matters and puts us in the path of receiving God’s mercy and forgiveness!
.
Most of us ( including myself) take time to explain our sins, excuse ourselves for the wrongdoings, don’t take responsibility as we pass the blame to others. We also make light of our sins as we tend to downgrade them from sins to just ‘small mistakes’ a times using terms like ‘having an affair’ instead of adultery or fornication.

Some of us take time to prove that we are right as we look for support or ‘understanding’ from others with our similar opinions. In our generation, many Christians have perfected some  ‘holy disobedience’ where we simply ignore the calls to repentance but continue with our church attendance and ministry service – giving a semblance of things being alright, yet we are disobedient and unbroken .
.
Other Christians change churches or fellowship when confronted with sin in their lives. They go looking for  ‘grace’ ,   ‘understanding’ or sympathy from those who can ‘understand’ them.
.
All these are displays of unbroken spirit, unrepentant heart, unteachable spirit and disobedient people .
.
How broken are you this morning as you head for the worship service? How do you respond when confronted about sin in your life by your spiritual authorities, friends, fellow brethren or  by the Holy Spirit through other means?
.
God help us this morning to have a contrite and broken spirit like that of King David!
.
Have a great Sunday worship service and a blessed week!
.
Happy Father’s Day to All the father’s around the world 🌍

Dear Reader✨
Thank you for checking out my blog post. Are you ready to ask God to direct your life? Why not pray this simple prayer right now and by faith invite God to fill you with His Spirit:

Dear Father, I need you. I acknowledge that I have sinned against you by directing my own life. I thank you that You have forgiven my sins through Christ’s death on the cross for me. I now invite Christ to again take His place on the throne of my life. Fill me with the Holy Spirit as You commanded me to be filled, and as You promised in Your Word that You would do if I asked in faith. I pray this in the name of Jesus. As an expression of my faith, I thank You for directing my life and for filling me with the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Does this prayer express the desire of your heart? If so, bow in prayer and trust God to fill you with the Holy Spirit right now.

WHEN HASTE MAKES WASTE!

When we get older so much of life looks different. So much former frenzy seems foolish. And when we finally lie on our deathbed, a lot of the jitters of our life will look ridiculous and such a waste!

Dear Friends,
Isaiah 28:16 says;
“He who believes shall not be in haste.”
.
He who believes what?
That God is God, and is always at work for those who trust Him.
.
Haste makes waste. Waste of peace. Waste of health. Waste of joy. Yes, waste of time. And at times waste of resources.
.
The Lord is never in haste for He has all things under control. What a steady power should mark us, His people!
.
I can for sure admit that some of the issues that have caused me sleepless nights, untold worry and frenzy have finally ended up being fixed by God with such an ease and in a manner I didnt even expect.
.
The worry, the frenzy, the panic, the anxiety and the haste I had didn’t contribute positively to the solution.
.
When we get older so much of life looks different. So much former frenzy seems foolish. And when we finally lie on our deathbed, a lot of the jitters of our life will look ridiculous and such a waste!
.
So why not learn it now? In the words of Isaiah 28:16, “He who believes shall not be in haste.”

We dishonor God by our fretful hurrying.

For a fact, we don’t need to be in a hurry, panic or frenzy for Gods purpose to be fulfilled.
.
When Paul says, “The life I live, I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me,” he means: “Moment by moment I feel confident that the love which moved Jesus to the cross for me is also moving him now to work in my circumstances for my good.”
.
That’s why Paul could say, “I have learned in whatever state I am to be content ” (Philippians 4:11).
.
He believed in the present power and goodness of God and so he was not in haste: no frenzy, no jitters, no anxiety.
.
We dishonor God by our fretful hurrying.
.
The children of the king do not panic when they lose their keys or when things don’t seem to go their way.
.
Picture an Israeli at the Red Sea as Pharaoh approaches from behind.
.
After too much complaining to Moses, he gets into much haste and in a great frenzy, moving about preparing some sort of a boat.
.
He  fetches wood and rope and pitch and tools, even staying up late working.
.
Then early one morning a great pain grips his chest, and his left arm goes numb and he becomes paralyzed.
.
Then the last thing he sees is the waters of the Red Sea opened with one divine whisper, and the people walking through to safety, leaving his small incomplete boat behind!
.
Child of God, your God never sleeps or slumbers.
.
Do not fret or be anxious. Your Father knows what you need before you ask Him. He is at work for you right now. Trust Him. Have your cool. For “he who believes shall not be in haste.”
.
Don’t let anxiety rule you ! Trust the Lord in all circumstances …..and more so during this period of uncountable uncertainties
.

Have a blessed week!

WHEN YOU HAVE TO WAIT!

You are in excellent company if you seem to have spent a long time waiting and  crying in pained desperation, ‘ how long?’.

Dear Friends,
We have been conditioned to have it our way and right away. First it was instant pain killers then fast food and instant coffee; then it was everything else instant as well. But our dislike for waiting isn’t just the product of social trends and generational shifts; it is an expression of something profoundly human.

The pains of waiting seem even more pronounced if we compare ourselves to our peers , friends and everyone around us who seems to be doing much better than us.

Have you ever waited for something from God patiently and for a long time , seemingly  using up all of your faith backed with endurance , perseverance and …hehee….even longsuffering…and still nothing but silence comes out , and faith seems to stand alone at the end sheepishly and embarrassingly empty-handed.

I have heard instances like ~the doctor delayed the diagnosis; I waited in faith, and now I have cancer. I thought my boyfriend was going to propose; I waited in faith, and he broke up with me. We tried months, and then years; I waited in faith, and we never got pregnant ; I have kept myself sexually pure awaiting my marriage and so far no right partner has come my way and age is catching up with me quite fast and so on and so forth~

Friends, have you waited for even your first job while your friends are in their fifth jobs, waited for your first car , house or even basics like food or rent when it is way past the deadlines? Have you ever known the pain of perpetually struggling in what others seems to do with ease?

In these instances, Scripture can feel like nothing more than empty words. There is no answer for these sufferings, except that God is God. But that a times leaves us with a tension that is, at least emotionally, irresolvable.

We ask why God would put us through a difficult season of waiting only to pull the rug out from under us, and we question his trustworthiness, his character, and even his love.

You are in excellent company if you seem to have spent a long time waiting and  crying in pained desperation, ‘ how long?’.

Your patience diminish. Anger builds. A sobering fact, however, sleeps in  Bible statistics that you are in the company of great people like Abraham, Joseph, Moses, David, Jesus….. And the list could be endless all who went through some long waiting.

Waiting is a fundamental spiritual principle. For example, it is ‘through faith and patience that God’s promises become reality in our lives.

“If God really loved me , He would act differently and help me quickly ” is a thought that may often sneak in, but  what we are actually saying is, “if God cared for us as little as we do for ourselves; if he were as shortsighted as us; if he knew as little as we do; he would immediately gratify us”.

“If God were as dumb as us, there would be no delay “.We have every reason to revel in the certainty that our Lord does not share our inadequacies.

God is good, and that has cash value for our lack today . He tells us to persistently ask him (Luke 18:7–8). He tells us to, “seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these [material] things will be added to you ”  (Matthew 6:33). . . somehow. And he tells us to trust that his timing is perfect ( Psalm 31:14–15).

Let us do that with the lowest bit of materialistic entitlement, and the highest confidence we can muster. If we knew every variable in our circumstances as God does, we would readily admit that God’s timeline for blessing us is perfectly appropriate.

Below are some lessons from waiting on God;

⭐ When God says, ‘No’ or  ‘Later,’ He turns up the emotional volume knob to reveal what’s in our heart.

⭐God blesses us with the fullness of himself through the momentary incompleteness of his material provision.

⭐ God never promises a reason. He rarely offers an answer. He will always offer himself.

Habakkuk 3:17-19 says;
Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior. The Sovereign LORD is my strength; He makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights.

Have a hopeful and successful month 6!

BORN FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS

If you remain silent, relief and deliverance will indeed still rise from somewhere else, but you will perish, because your safety is a myth.

Dear WordPress Friends,
Like Queen Esther enjoying the trappings of achievement, opulence and good life, could you have settled in your current lifestyle or setup, detached  from the problems of the majority around you? Could you be strategically avoiding to be involved in other people’s affairs as a means of protecting oneself from people’s affairs, their unending needs and create space for enjoying your blessings and even growing more and more?

Could you have made strategic choices to avoid some people, yes some family members, some relatives, some church members, some former classmates…and too bad, some seemingly costly but Godly courses, all in a bid to protect your family, your wealth, your safety, your privacy or your comfort?

Who will awaken you to the reality of your current and urgent Godly assignment? Who will open your eyes for you to see that your current opportunities, status, position  and resources are not just for you to enjoy and feel good about but for accomplishing greater godly tasks?

While Queen Esther was basking in the glory of her status in the palace and enjoying the wonderful lifestyle in there, Satan through Harman had plotted to wipe out her Jewish tribe from the Kingdom. In her safety and haven, a policy was being put in place that would not only endanger her people but herself too. In her feeling of security, she was quite insecure. Her security was a myth!

Don’t ever sit pretty in your comfort as your neighbors wallow in poverty, lack and all manner of hardships. Don’t think you are safe because you can afford food, a good house and access healthcare while the many of those around you struggle in lack. Don’t be indifferent to the issues of others around you especially if they seem not to be concerning you. Most importantly, don’t be deaf and blind to what God is doing in your church, community and nation.

Thank God that Queen Esther, though in the safety of the palace security, still kept contact with her uncle Mordecai. Thank God she still kept contact and maintained some access to someone who knew her background and her destiny.

In your current lifestyle and status, do you have anyone who can access you and remind you of your godly assignment? Is there a friend, a family member, anyone who has deep insight, perception and spiritual understanding who can access you? Yes one with courage enough to confront you and shake you back to your godly destiny? One who can remind you of your godly roots? Or have you surrounded yourself with new found allies, people of the same thinking and class, people detached from God’s big agenda?

Are you a disciple of the modern, posh brand of Christianity which is a captive of selfish ambition and materialism? The one which sees enemy in every family member, relative, neighbour or friend and pushes one into seclusion in the name of enjoying one’s blessing and being secure from trouble ?

Are you sitting pretty, detached, unconcerned and indifferent to the status of things in your family, neighborhood, country or church? Can’t you be deeply moved into some godly actions by the bad state of your family members, your neighbors and friends? Well, you are not God to offer solutions to all the problems of people around you, but can’t you even have a burden to pray? Have you instead built a wall, secluded yourself or ran away to hide in some seemingly secure and comfortable place.

Yes, beware, the same problems you are running away from will engulf you sooner or later. You will sooner or later be facing the consequences of the same. Your safety is a myth. Better rise up, use your resources, your position, your influence, you networks, your education and your power to create solutions for others too.

Because if you remain silent, relief and deliverance will indeed still rise from somewhere else, but you will perish, because your safety is a myth.

Esther 4:14 “For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”

RELAX AND LET GO!!

REFERENCE SCRIPTURE:

Leviticus 25:40
” But during the seventh year, you must let the land rest. This will be a special time to honor the Lord. You must not plant seed in your field or trim your vineyards”

Dear Friends, One of the most effective ways to release a back spasm is to relax; tension and wincing only makes the situation worse.

This is the power of letting go. Most people don’t associate power with letting go. We are more likely to think of power as holding on and pressing on. Yet sometimes, the most effective thing that we can do to help our situation is to let go of it.

The message today is that there are times in life when we need to let go instead of working ourselves beyond our capacity. There are times that we need to let go and recognize that only God is truly in control.

For some of us, this may mean taking a step back from managing every aspect of our finances, both current and future. We need to do our best, but then trust God for this day and the future. Other times, we may need to let go of working on our children. We are constantly pulling out their weeds and trying to help them blossom. But sometimes, we need to let go for a bit so that they can grow on their own.

There are times when we need to let ourselves go. In our effort to be the best version of ourselves, we can set unfair expectations and create unrealistic to-do lists. Yet, in order to be our best we need time to rest, recalibrate, and reconnect with God. This is the power of letting go.

In any situation where we find ourselves stuck and that life is beyond our control, the antidote is always to submit to God. When we let go and have faith, we become more open to receive His unlimited blessings.

This week, let us relax and let go✨
