Trust is hard, trust is in short supply in our present world! And trust must be earned. Its difficult to trust people easily anymore, especially in the city! If a stranger greets you in the matatu or the streets, you quickly find out if your valuables are still safe.
Most of us have fallen victim to people’s untrustworthiness. Right from politicians, to business people, to family members, to spouses, to even God’s servants, none is fully trusted in present times! Yes, it seems not even God is trusted currently! Seems we only trust ourselves!
Actually, not easily trusting is a great life-skill in our days. We set up means of verification, systems of checks and balances, ways of constant feedbacks along the way, or is it monitoring and evaluation, all in a bid to ensure untrustworthiness is checked as early and its bad effects if any, is minimized!
Unfortunately, we seem to be applying the same to our God! For most of us, it has increasingly become hard to trust God, especially with the details of our lives!
In our walk of faith, most of us seem to trust God with the overall outcome or the generalities of life but have taken full charge of our life’s details! We trust ourselves more with the details!
Though we vaguely believe that God means good and He’s in charge, we have refused to hand him the full details of our lives. We spend time worrying and worrying over the details of our lives that God has already worked and fixed. We trust our wisdom more in fixing them, even when God has promised to do so.
Whom shall I marry?
How will I pay rent next month?
What shall I eat in the evening?
Suppose I become sick, will I afford treatment?
Will my fees be paid up in time ?
Will I get well from this sickness ?
Shall I ever get a good job ?
Will I ever own a car ?
What will become of our nation?
What if I get an accident ?
And currently, can I catch Covid-19?
And what might happen to me just in case I catch Covid-19?
….the questions are endless….the details numerous and the worries unending….
Luke 12:6-7
Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. …..
From the above portion of scripture, it is obvious that God is more into the details of our lives than we do ourselves.
Though we seem to trust ourselves more than God in working and fixing our lives’ details, we are still not as perfectly detailed about our own lives as God! God even knows the number of hairs on our head! Something none of us knows!
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5 )
Trusting God doesn’t mean inactivity or not doing anything about our live’s details, but letting him direct, guide and inform each of them, yes and at times, his instructions could simply be – be still – !
It is much better, much more safer, much more satisfying, much wiser to trust God with the very details of your life!
He won’t let you down!
He’s faithful!
He’s trustworthy!
Good day!
Amen!

So much truth here. Either we trust Him with everything or we really don’t trust Him at all. That’s scary!
